Financing
Having appropriate financing to tackle any type of internationalisation project – whether by setting up a foothold, acquiring new companies or rolling out projects – is a critical element for most companies. The difficult of finding appropriate financing to operate in third countries is usually a common problem for all companies that undertake such actions.
Therefore, a priority goal for Basque Trade & Investment is to help Basque companies to access funding mechanisms offered by the Basque Country and other authorities in addition to commercial banking to undertake international projects.

Search for international financing
Basque Trade & Investment will support you if you are searching for financing to undertake a project abroad or to boost an existing one. Thanks to our external network, we have access to the main financial players on your target market and we can map the local financial support and pinpoint those funding mechanisms and put you in contact with local authorities/stakeholders that can help you in your project.
Access to Cofides Fund / Basque Institute of Finance
As financing is one of the most critical points in internationalisation processes, Basque Trade & Instituto Vasco has signed an agreement with the Basque Institute of Finance and COFIDES to be the one-stop-window for Basque companies to have access to the best financing terms and conditions available with those two institutions, by setting up a joint fund of €100 million for the internationalisation of the Basque company.

Access to multilateral entity financing
Basque Trade & Investment is in permanent contact with the funding window for private companies from the leading multilateral banks, such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank’s International Finance Corporation, and BID Invest.
These entities offer funding to projects in countries with the highest risk and which is complementary to what commercial banking offers. Multilateral bank offers different mechanisms such as loans, equity and/or standing surety for investments or implementing projects in most of the world.
