The region has strongly committed to digitalisation and digital transformation, supporting ICT companies through public policies and specific funding programmes, which has led to over 1,000 companies being set up. The partnership between companies, technology centres and universities has been fundamental to drive R&D&I projects in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, virtual reality, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Cybersecurity. As regards cybersecurity, the presence of the Basque Cybersecurity Agency has been a groundbreaking initiative that has driven the sector in the Basque Country. Such initiatives have not only shored up the ICT sector, but that have also helped to make other services and industrial sectors in the Basque Country more competitive and efficient.
Today, the ecosystem of the ICTs and Electronics sector in the Basque Country cover all the main technologies of the market, providing comprehensive support and anticipating new trends.
