Gauzatu’s support

The International Gauzatu programme aims to consolidate and strengthen Basque companies, by making them more competitive and profitable, by supporting companies with productive investment initiatives in foreign destinations with repayable financial assistance.

Our companies expanding internationally is a key lever for the future competitiveness of the Basque Country.

The role of institutions when providing companies with support must necessarily consider the specific aspects of the internationalisation processes according to the size and internationalisation stage of the companies; one of the priority areas of this programme is therefore the differentiated support for Basque companies to access international markets.

REQUEST

What we offer

  • Support to set up, revamp or acquire companies abroad
  • Line of Credit against investment made. 1 year grace + 5 repayment
  • Support up to a limit of €1,000,000
    – Small Enterprises: 50% of the investment
    – Medium-sized Enterprises: 35% of the investment
    – Large Corporations: 25% of the investment

Requirements

  • Aimed at SMEs and Large Corporations based in or with production facilities in the Basque Country
  • Excluded sectors: construction, property, financial, defence insurance, fisheries products and fish farming, and primary agricultural production
  • Project minimum investment: €120,000. To be implemented within a maximum of 36 months
  • Only 1 project per company and country

Procedure

  • The funding , as per the competitive call procedure, will be repayable advances, and will be awarded according to the principles of publicity, competition and transparency

Beneficiaries

  • SMEs, to which Commission Regulation (EU) No. 651/2014 of 17 June 2014 declaring certain categories of aid compatible with the internal market in application of Articles 107 and 108 of the Treaty Text is applicable
  • Large corporations, Commission Regulation (EU) No 2023/2832 of 13 December 2023 on the application of Articles 107 and 108 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union to de minimis aid is applicable. New limit set at €300,000 in 3 successive years
