Our approach
By combining specialist sectoral expertise and our knowledge of the markets based on our presence with 22 offices abroad, BasqueTrade is able to meet the needs of Basque companies in each of the challenges they face in their internationalisation process
BasqueTrade provides an à la carte service to drive exports and the internationalisation of the company, to promote activities aimed at gaining a foothold on strategic markets, and to facilitate technical assistance at production and commercial facilities, as well as providing support in projects financed by multilateral organisations.
Its service model is based on segmented assistance for companies combining sectoral expertise in our offices in the Basque Country and geographical knowledge in the overseas offices; the outcome is greater specialisation and proximity and services that meet the companies’ specific needs.
Sectoral specialisation
We establish sectoral prioritisation criteria to guide the specialisation and targeting efforts as per the RIS3 criteria.
As part of BasqueTrade’s commitment to diversifying the business fabric towards a high-tech landscape and with great potential for growth, three priorities have been defined and which cover Advanced Manufacturing, Energy and the convergence of Biosciences / Health; areas where the Basque Country is strongly specialised and has the capacity to internationalise.
The Basque Country’s smart specialisation strategy considers Energy and Advanced Manufacturing as strategic areas.
Advanced manufacturing
Advanced manufacturing impacts the main industrial sectors of the Basque economy, is key to the industrial tradition of the Basque Country and has important technological capabilities linked to manufacturing.

ENERGY
Our Energy sector already has the different stages in place of the chain in generation, transport and distribution and its auxiliary industry. A sector with large companies that are international leaders, and which already has technological capabilities in materials, nanotechnology, manufacturing technologies and ICTs in the Basque Country.
BIOSCIENCES AND HEALTH
It is a prominent sector that provides wealth and added value to the Basque Country thanks to its high rates of investment in R&D, the provision of highly qualified labour, and its international approach.
