South and Central America, and Caribbean
With a growing market, access to vast natural resources and a context of favourable trade relations, this continent offers great business opportunities for Basque companies
An attractive continent for Basque business
Central and South America are home to some of the largest and developed economies of the continent, such as Brazil and Argentina. Thanks to the abundance of raw materials, this region’s economies are noted for being large exporters of raw materials such as oil, minerals or agricultural products.
In recent decades, Latin American countries have been working on diversifying their economies by driving the generation of new industries to become less dependent on raw materials.
Despite the economic and political instability – mainly due to the impact of the price fluctuations of raw materials – the outlook for South America and Central America is encouraging as the region is undergoing a process to modernise infrastructures, committed to renewable energy and the development of technological and innovative industries.
The existing trade agreement and regional integration facilitate access to those markets, reducing trade barriers and offering competitive advantages to Basque companies.
